Michael Jordan was never one to sit on the sidelines. In high school, when he was told he was too short to play on the varsity squad, he put his all into becoming an all-star on junior varsity. In college, with 17 seconds on the clock, he hit a jumper from the left wing, landing the Tar Heels the 1982 Championship game over the Georgetown Hoyas. That same passion for the game would also net him six NBA Championship rings, four Olympic gold medals and a legacy that continues to inspire.
Jordan signed with Nike soon after becoming a Chicago Bull. The Air Jordan 1 took to the hardwood for the first time in 1984 during Jordan's rookie season, but they were immediately banned from the NBA because they didn't fit into the dress code and Michael was fined $5,000 every time he wore the sneakers on court. Nike paid the fines, and that dedication to putting the best foot forward - no matter the cost - continued to drive the innovative qualities of each Jordan shoe that followed, until eventually Jordan Brand became its own entity in 1994
Jordan Brand has established itself as a game changer, and His Airness' signature shoes are being spotted all over the globe from the streets of New York City to fashion runways to the hardwood. Carmelo Anthony, Maya Moore and Tiger Woods continue the legacy of greatness, so whether you rock Jordans for the style, the comfort, the history or all of the above, know that you're representing the best.
