Under Armour

A premier standard in modern sportswear, Under Armour was founded in 1996 by Kevin Plank, a then 23-year-old special teams captain for the Univeristy of Maryland Terrapins, out of his grandmother's basement in Baltimore, Maryland. Inspired by the moisture-wicking capabilities of athletic compression shorts, the young football player grew tired of ending each practice in a sweat-drenched undershirt and began fabricating t-shirts out of micro-fiber synthetic materials. Today, Under Armour has grown into a household name for high-performance athletic-wear, casualwear, and even sneakers, with such athletes as Golden State Warrior point guard Steph Curry, New England Patriot quarterback Tom Brady, and pro-wrestler Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson having signature deals with the company.
