Nike Zoom KD 9 ‘Olympics’ – 843392-160 – 7/1/2016

The Nike Zoom KD 9 is dropping in time for the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, and Kevin Durant believes this is the perfect shoe for him.

The KD 9 will be the first silhouette in the KD line to employ Flyknit in the construction of the sneaker. Durant said he was jealous when Kobe Bryant unveiled the Kobe 9, and it had Flyknit. The tongue on this silhouette sports a boot-style fit.

The KD 9 is the first sneaker to debut Nike’s new tapered Zoom Air unit, which took three years to develop. The Zoom Air bag is 16 millimeters thick at the heel, and thins out to 10 millimeters at the forefoot. Designer Leo Chang said the amount of Zoom was increased and foam was decreased in this new silhouette. The new Zoom provides shock absorption at the heel, and gives you a springy sensation in the push-off. KD plans on debuting the KD 9 during the Olympics in August.

The ‘Olympics’ colorway is a tribute to the Red, White, and Blue. Built from white Flyknit, the upper sees red accents on the Swoosh and tongue, and blue hits on the lace loops, pull tabs, and KD branding. The sole unit employs a red, visible Zoom Air unit in the midsole and a solid white outsole.

The Nike Zoom KD 9 ‘Olympics’ drop on Friday, July 1st, in stores and online. This sneaker will be in grade schoolers’ for $125. Be sure to check out Where to Cop for details on these debut sneakers.
