Air Jordan 9 "Statue"

On November 1, 1994, in front of the United Center in Chicago, The Spirit statue was unveiled in front of Michael Jordan, celebrities, and adoring Bulls fans. This statue is a tribute to Michael Jordan and all of this accomplishments with the Chicago Bulls.

After the Bulls first three-peat and due to personal tragedies, His Airness abdicated this throne before the AJ 9 was finished. While Michael never donned the Air Jordan 9 on the court, they remain a classic in the Jordan line. Near the end of the 1994, The Spirit was revealed to honor MJ. The bronze Mike is wearing a pair of Air Jordan 9’s, and the Air Jordan 9 “Statue” pays tribute to that statue.

The “Statue” is simplistic and elegant with the primarily white leather upper, and black hits on the tongue, laces, and pull tabs. The lace loops, liner, and speckled midsole are Military Green to mimic the color of the AJ 9’s on the MJ statue. The outsole is white with characters from different languages to highlight Michael’s global stardom. The silhouette sports encapsulated air units in the forefoot and the heel.

The Air Jordan 9 “Statue” will be available on August 22nd in stores only, so check with your local City Gear for details. They will be in Men’s at $190 and grade schooler’s at $140. Grab a pair of these to embrace the spirit of Michael Jordan.
