Share This Page: Air Jordan XI Low IE "Croc" The Air Jordan XI is a mainstay of the culture for its initial impact and lingering recoil making it one of the most recognizable silhouettes in the sneaker game. From helping bugs bunny outscore aliens to aiding the best record in basketball history- the Air Jordan XI has undeniably earned its place in sneaker culture. The kick was so hyped that the Jordan Brand had to move releases for the Jordan XI from weekdays to Saturdays because kids were skipping class to get their hands on a coveted pair of the “Concord,” “Gamma Blue,” or any other colorway. The XI silhouette helped welcome MJ back to the NBA when he wore a prototype at the beginning of Chicago’s second-round series against the Orlando Magic in 1995. During the playoffs Tinker Hatfield revealed the design for the AJ XI to Michael, who wore them on the court against Hatfield’s and Nike’s wishes. This stunt force Nike to go with the prototype. Jordan was so impressed with the kicks that he showed them off on camera, and the hype for the fall release was at a fever pitch. MJ predicted the silhouette would be paired with suits, and this prophecy came true with the Boys II Men 1996 Grammy Awards appearance. A quick Google search will yield tons of images of people rocking XI’s in wedding photos. Michael wore these kicks during the filming of the classic movie, Space Jam. If that wasn’t enough, these sneakers helped MJ and the Bulls pull-off the record-breaking 72-win championship 1995-1996 season. Jordan became the second man in NBA history to win the MVP awards for the regular season, All-Star Game, and the NBA Finals. The Air Jordan XI has seen many different variations on its great design since its inception. The silhouette has come in Highs, Lows, and IE editions, and the Jordan Brand is throwing fire all over the place during its 30th anniversary. The latest AJ XI to hit the streets is the Air Jordan XI Low IE “Croc.” The upper of the “Croc” is black leather, and faux croc skin overlays replace the XI’s signature patent leather. The laces and tongue are black with a Militia green Jumpman for a small hit of color. Adding stark contrast, these kicks sport a clean white midsole, red-and-black carbon fiber plate, and gum outsole. The Air Jordan XI Low IE “Croc” will be available on Saturday, Sept. 19th in stores only, so check with your local City Gear for details. They will be in Men’s for $170. Grab a pair of these cold-blooded kicks before they are gone.
