After claiming 2 Player of the Year awards in 1984, Jordan decided to forego his final year of college to take on the NBA. Michael was selected 3rd overall by the Chicago Bulls and he made an immediate impact, he took a floundering Bulls organization to the playoffs through his own indomitable will. He was voted to the All-Star team in his rookie season while also earning Rookie of the Year honors. He finished his rookie season averaging 28.2 points shooting over 50%. In December of 1984, just months into his rookie season Michael graced the cover of Sports Illustrated featuring the phrase “A Star Is Born” while going for a bucket over the Milwaukee Bucks’ star player Sidney Moncrief. That iconic moment is the inspiration of the Air Jordan 1 “A Star Is Born”. The Black, Sail, and Varsity Red tones all represent the man himself, Michael Jordan. The most eye-popping portion is the green gradient swoosh inspired by Moncrief’s jersey paneling. The blue featured in the Sports Illustrated logo makes an appearance on the insole of the shoe. Under the collar of the AJ 1, much like Rookie of Year Air Jordan 1 that dropped earlier this year, is the phrase “A Star Is Born”. These are just what you need to awaken your inner superstar. The Air Jordan 1 “A Star Is Born” is available 12/27, cop yours at City Gear.
