Brand Spotlight: Mitchell & Ness Nostalgia Co.

Founded in 1904 by Frank P. Mitchell, a former AAU tennis and wrestling champ, and Charles M. Ness, a Scottish golfer, Mitchell & Ness originally sold tennis rackets and golf clubs, but they expanded their business to uniforms. Their label first appeared on a major league baseball uniform in 1938 on the Philadelphia Athletics. The company nearly went bankrupt in the ’80s after spending the decade before focused on retail instead of team business. A customer came in to the one store left and asked to have his jerseys repaired, and that inspired a new goal for Mitchell & Ness—to produce historically accurate baseball uniforms. Now, they have every MLB uniform on file, and M&N is always sending researchers to sports halls of fame across the country to make sure they’re giving customers the most accurate apparel possible. Adidas purchased M&N in 2007 to get in on the vintage apparel market. Mitchell & Ness is best known for their line of snapbacks featuring embroidered sports team logos. Professional athletes and performers like Wiz Khalifa sport Mitchell & Ness caps.   [caption id="attachment_3322" align="aligncenter" width="642"]imanshumpmitchellandness Iman Shumpert of the New York Knicks rocks a Mitchell & Ness snapback.[/caption] [caption id="attachment_3323" align="aligncenter" width="627"]Wiz Khalifa is known to wear Mitchell and Ness caps.
