City Gear SPIRIT SCHOLARSHIP kicks off for Fall '13, Spring '14

Spirit Scholarship

City Gear LLC, in partnership with The University of Memphis, is set to continue the "City Gear Spirit Scholarship" program that originally launched in August 2012. The scholarship, which is awarded to one male and one female student each semester, gives $1,500 to the students that attend the most Tiger athletic events and select campus functions in a given semester. The point system used in scoring attendance of campus events is as follows:

  • Football: 2 points
  • Women's Basketball: 2 Points
  • Baseball: 3 Points
  • Softball: 3 Points
  • Volleyball: 3 Points
  • Soccer: 3 Points
  • Select campus events: 3 Points
  • Men's basketball: 1 Point

Eligible U of M students who rack up the most points for the semester will be awarded the Spirit Scholarship, which City Gear hopes will bolster a strong relationship between City Gear and Tiger Athletics for years to come. “We couldn’t be more pleased about the City Gear Spirit Scholarships to be given out every semester and about our City Gear partnership as a whole,” said Memphis Tigers’ Athletic Director Tom Bowen.  “It’s wonderful to see local companies like City Gear embrace our campus community and know our entire student body will respond to what is an innovative, engaging program designed to support our own teams and campus events.  It will be a tremendous success.”   For more information on the City Gear Spirit Scholarship, we encourage you to check out the official page here.
