Share This Page: Ewing Kross Mid "Red" and "Hornets" While Patrick Ewing never won a championship ring, no one has scored more points, played more games, brought down more rebounds, block more shots, or scored more free throws for the Knicks than Ewing. Many consider Ewing to be one of the most consistent players in NBA history. When Patrick started in the NBA he signed an endorsement with adidas, but in 1991 he left adidas to form his own brand, Ewing Athletics. Ewing was the first player to make is own brand instead of endorsing Nike, adidas, or another brand. During its initial run, Ewing Athletics was only around for five years, but it put out some solid silhouettes. The most memorable was the Ewing Hi 33, but Ewing Athletics had some crazy designs and names for the shoes. Instead of naming shoes the Ewing 1, Ewing 2, and so on, the Ewing sneakers had creative names like Eclipse Hi, Orion, Rogue, and the Kross. In 2012 Patrick Ewing relaunched Ewing Athletics to feed the appetite of a feverous cult following. To many sneakerheads delight, Ewing Athletics have retroed the now classic silhouette the Ewing Kross. The Ewing Kross Mid is releasing in two colorways, the Ewing Kross OG “Red” and the Ewing Kross OG “Hornets.” The “Red” Kross employs a predominately white leather upper with touches of red on some of the lace eyelets, the heel, and the liner. The stark white is contrasted by the black on the side panel, the Ewing logo, and Ewing’s signature. The silhouette also features Ewing’s Jersey number “33.” The sneaker’s midsole is black and red, which makes the white of the upper pop. These kicks are finished out with a black midsole and red Ewing lettering. The Ewing Kross “Hornets” is dressed in Charlotte Hornet’s colors. The upper is dark brown suede with teal accents on the Ewing logo, Ewing’s jersey number, and his signature. The midsole really brightens up the dark sneaker with teal and purple tones from front to back. Purple Ewing lettering decorates the black outsole. While the Kross may not be as popular as the Ewing 33 Hi, it is a solid silhouette. These colorways are a good way to reintroduce the Ewing Kross to the sneakerhead world. The Ewing Kross Mid “Red” and the Ewing Kross Mid “Hornets” are available now online and in stores. They are in Men’s for $110 each. Cop a pair of sneakers that haven’t been seen in over 20 years.
