LeBron believes in conquering obstacles through perseverance and hard work. Through effort, he wrote his name in the stars and NBA history. His newest sneaker, The Nike LeBron, 13 showcases this perfectly. LeBron started his journey to the stars in Akron when he was introduced to basketball at the age of nine. Though naturally talented, he worked hard at the game. He attended high school at St. Vincent-St. Mary High School, where through his determination, was one of the most celebrated and hyped high school players in history. The LeBron 13 silhouette was unveiled in a press conference in Akron because LeBron wanted to pay tribute to his home town, and highlight his feelings on success through hard work. During the unveiling, poet Lemon Andersen performed “Rubber City Soul” which ends with “Talent is given. Greatness is earned.” This weekend marks the release of the Nike LeBron 13 “Written in the Stars.” This brand new silhouette from King James’ signature basketball sneaker line possesses several different technologies, making it a state of the art piece of footwear. The LeBron 13 was designed by Jason Petrie. A breathable mess upper covers the foot with a one-piece, sock like construction for the utmost comfort while driving down the court at top speed. Hyperposite overlays hit the upper on the collar, midfoot, and the toe. Above the heel the overlay provides support while remaining flexible. The midfoot Hyperposite plate adds durability to the upper to stand up to LeBron’s energetic playstyle. Shielding against high impact, the small Hyperposite around the toe protects the foot. When James has to go hard in the paint, Flywire cables hug the foot to lockdown lateral motion. Combine Flywire with the asymmetrical lacing, and LeBron’s feet are effectively contained by a complete support system. Embedded in the sole are a couple different Hexagonal Zoom Air units. Placed in the heel and ball of the foot, two of the units are 13 millimeters thick for explosive response and excellent impact absorption. The other Zoom Air units provide the support and comfort needed to assist King James all season long. This new silhouette is finished out with a translucent rubber outsole for traction. The inaugural LeBron 13 comes dressed in primarily Mulberry on the upper, and vivid purple highlights the Hyperposite overlays. Small accents of orange decorate these kicks on the Flywire, inner Swoosh, and pull tabs. The Swoosh on the toe and the inner lining are a contrasting black. The black-speckled, white midsole compliments the upper, and the icy outsole completes the look of this sneaker. As an homage to his hometown and his life, the heel is embossed with “LeBron James,” “Akronite,” and “12/84.” The Nike LeBron 13 “Written in the Stars” drops Saturday, Oct. 10th in stores and online. It will be available in Men’s for $200 and grade schoolers’ for $160. Cop a pair, and write your name in the stars.
