Share This Page: Player Profile: Russell Westbrook Russell Westbrook is known for being a great basketball player and his love for fashion. While he balls in the latest Jordan models and exclusive PE’s, his love for high fashion directs him to more luxury sneakers, and the Jordan brand is more than happy to let him express himself. Now the shining star of the Oklahoma City Thunder after the departure of Kevin Durant, Westbrook has played with the Thunder his whole professional career. He is a five-time NBA All-Star, a two-time NBA All-Star MVP, and a two-time Olympic Gold medalist with Team U.S.A. Westbrook is an enigmatic and eccentric athlete who has shown he has the ability to dominate. Beginning as an unassuming high school player, Russell Westbrook didn’t draw attention from colleges until the summer before his senior year, and he didn’t receive any offers from major programs until Jordan Farmar declared for the NBA draft. At that point UCLA offered him a scholarship to play for them. During his first year in college he was a backup player, and saw major playtime during his sophomore year. After two years in college, Westbrook declared for the draft. Selected 4th overall by the Seattle SuperSonics, he moved to Oklahoma City when the team decided to move six days after the draft. The SuperSonics became the Oklahoma City Thunder, and Westbrook was given his college number “0”. While he hasn’t won a championship, Russell has had his share of successes including two Olympic Gold Medals and in 2012 Westbrook signed with the Jordan Brand. Westbrook wants for nothing when it comes to the latest in basketball footwear. He has debuted several Jordan silhouettes on court including the Air Jordan 30 and Air Jordan 31. But as Jordan feeds his fire on the hardwood, they are also fueling him creatively with his own line of luxury, high fashion sneakers. “Fashion is a passion I’ll continue pursuing once I’m done playing. It’s a great honor to work with the brand again on creating my second signature design,” Westbrook said. The Jordan Westbrook 0.2 is a stylish silhouette that borrows design cues from the Air Jordan 1 and the Air Jordan 7. With a smooth, deconstructed design of the AJ 1, the Westbrook 0.2 stands apart with the toe down look of the AJ 7. The premium suede and nubuck of the upper are given the high-end treatment with double stitching and waxed laces. The streamlined silhouette sports Westbrook’s signature “Why Not?”, and highlights family inspired details. The stylish upper rests on a white sole unit. The first iteration of the Westbrook 0.2 drops in a black and camo colorway, perfect for the fall fashion line-up. Cop a pair of the Air Jordan Westbrook 0.2 'Camo' in stores or online.
