Timberland 6 Inch Premium Boots

Creator of the most iconic boots in the shoe game, Timberland’s signature 6-inch boots have been around since the 1970s. Timberland has been a major part of fall and winter kicks for years, and the company has been around for a long time.

Since the inception of the Timberland boot, the famous silhouette has permeated sneaker culture inspiring celebrities and hip hop artists. The boots reached peak fame in the 1990s when hip hop stars, including Biggie and Wu-Tang’s GZA, rocked them in videos and on stage. Rappers like RZA gravitated toward the boots because they were, “cool and rugged at the same time.” As a staple of sneaker and hip hop culture, the Timberland boot has, and will continue to be a must have to stunt in the cold months.

In the 1950s Nathan Swartz bought the Abington Shoe Company, and with his sons introduced injection-molding technology to the shoe industry. This tech allowed the company to fuse the sole to the upper of shoes without stitching. This innovation led to the first truly waterproof boots and shoes. In the 1970s, Swartz changed the name of the company to Timberland, and they produced the first waterproof Timberland boot.

In the 1980s, Timberland started its history of community service by partnering with City Year Inc., a youth urban peace corps aimed at helping the communities of major cities. Beginning in the 1990s, the company offered 16 hours of paid employee volunteer time for employees to enrich their community, and now employees are encouraged to use the 40 hours of time for community service.

While promoting goodwill in their communities, the people at Timberland developed several different technologies that have helped the 6-inch Timberland boot to continue to be relevant since the 1970s.

While Timberland have always been waterproof, innovations such as the Active Comfort Technology (ACT) system have been added to better the boots. The ACT system is built into the boots to provide optimum cushioning and climate control for feet. They also developed the Advanced Combination Construction to assist their shoes in breaking, supporting, flexing, and propelling the foot while walking. PrimaLoft insulation is added to the inner of the 6-inch boot to keep active feet warm in the coming cold months.

Promoting community awareness and developing tech for more comfortable shoes are admirable goals for a company, but Timberland strives to be as environmental conscious as a footwear company can be. In 2006, Timberland started using environmentally friendly packaging, and a label which details the companies environmental and community footprint.
